HCLTech Expands Telecom Business with HPE Acquisition

HCLTech has now successfully taken control of the Telco Solutions business unit of Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), yet another significant move made by the company in its quest to establish a stronger footprint in the international telecom market. This follows an earlier collaboration between the companies regarding HPE’s Communications Technology Group (CTG) which enhances HCLTech’s engineering, cloud-native, and artificial intelligence (AI) driven networking skills.

This acquisition comes at a time when the telecom service providers need help with upgrading their networks and delivery services, preparing themselves for the upcoming era of 5G and AI.

Expanded Portfolio Brings Advanced Telecom Solutions

With the acquisition, HCLTech has secured a range of telecom offerings that manage over one billion connected devices with more than 200 deployments across the globe. These include OSS, HSS, 5G SDM, and network automation solutions powered by artificial intelligence that can help telecom operators enhance their network performance as well as open up new revenue streams.

The newly added capabilities enhance HCLTech’s position to offer Network as a Service, autonomous network powered by artificial intelligence, and cloud-based telecom solutions to its clients all over the world.

Skilled Workforce Joins HCLTech

With the completion of this deal, over 1,400 engineers and telecoms experts who hail from 39 different nations will join the team at HCLTech. It is hoped that the inclusion of the additional experienced talent, research capabilities, and intellectual property will allow for faster innovation and enhanced service for HCLTech’s international telecom customers.

In addition, the deal will provide HCLTech with better contacts with key players in the field of communications services.

According to Anil Ganjoo, Chief Growth Officer and Global Head of Telecom, Media, Publishing & Entertainment and Technology at HCLTech, the transaction reinforces the company’s product-centric approach and also fits in with their ambition to assist telecom operators transition into becoming technology-driven companies.

Speaking on the matter, Rami Rahim, Executive Vice President, President and General Manager of Networking at HPE, said that HCLTech’s vision regarding communication service providers puts them in a great position to be able to continue expanding the Telco Solutions business.

Building on an Existing Partnership

This acquisition comes after HCLTech's earlier acquisition of select assets from HPE's Communication Technology Group in 2024. This earlier acquisition helped in improving HCLTech's telecom engineering services and helped in building stronger relations with some of the world's top communication service providers. Through this new acquisition, HCLTech has managed to enhance these capabilities once again.

With the completion of this acquisition process, HCLTech would now have an increased part to play in the creation of intelligent, automated and cloud native networks through telecom operators.
