How Community Bank Delaware’s $1,000 Donation Is Strengthening the Future of Lewes Firefighters

Supporting Local First Responders Through Business Partnerships
Community Bank Delaware recently made a generous donation of $1,000 to the Lewes Fire Department Foundation’s Business Bucket Brigade. This donation was presented to the Greater Lewes Foundation and is intended to provide much-needed funding to the Lewes Fire Department. The Business Bucket Brigade was established to raise money for the Lewes Fire Department to help it better serve the community.
Community members and business owners can donate to the Brigade, which makes it easier for them to give to the fire department. The Brigade allows the fire department to rely less on donations from the community and more on corporate contributions. In addition, the Lewes Fire Department faces rising costs and the need to provide emergency services, which requires additional funding.
Program Aims to Meet Long-Term Funding Needs
according to bill huntley, the business bucket brigade was started after it was realized that there was a need to have a program to support the first responders, who were locally based in the community. Therefore, the business bucket brigade was launched by local business owners and members of the Lewes fire department to offer support to the fire fighters. Many companies that join contribute throughout the year and the money raised goes to the Lewes reserve fund.
This will help to provide for future needs such as new apparatus, equipment, training of firefighters, and other needs that may arise.
Strong Early Response from the Business Community
The program has seen a large turnout already. Only three months after its founding, the Business Bucket Brigade had more than 35 local businesses signed up. Huntley noted that it's an incredibly generous donation for these small mom-and-pop shops, and a large testament to the support of the community and the firemen who keep it safe.
The businesses signed up can expect to see their names pop up on the foundation's website, social media posts, newsletters, and much more. Local business owners are being urged to step up and become members and support their emergency responders stationed in Lewes.
