Making Waves Through 2028: NBC Sports Extends Broadcast Partnership with USA Swimming

In a move that cements swimming’s place on the national sports stage, NBC Sports and USA Swimming have announced a multi-year extension of their broadcast partnership, stretching through 2028. This renewed collaboration will bring premier swimming competitions—featuring America’s top aquatic talent—into homes across the country via NBC and Peacock.
Keeping the Momentum Flowing
Under this extension, NBC Sports will continue to air USA Swimming’s most prestigious domestic events annually. This includes fan-favorite competitions like the Toyota National Championships, the TYR Pro Swim Series, and the Pan Pacific Swimming Championships—a high-caliber international meet featuring elite swimmers from the United States, Australia, Canada, and Japan. Notably, the Pan Pacs will return to NBC Sports coverage in 2026, marking its first broadcast appearance in eight years.
This agreement also extends NBC’s coverage beyond traditional Olympic years, ensuring a consistent spotlight on elite swimmers as they train, compete, and prepare for the global stage. The renewed deal encompasses coverage of the 2028 U.S. Olympic Trials and the Los Angeles Olympic Games, reinforcing NBC Sports' long-standing commitment to Olympic sports storytelling.
A Platform for Greatness
“We are proud to extend our partnership with NBC Sports through 2028,” said Bob Vincent, Interim CEO of USA Swimming. “NBC’s reach and storytelling elevate our athletes and the sport of swimming in an unparalleled manner.” He emphasized that this collaboration ensures that fans across the country can continue to enjoy elite-level swimming on one of the most iconic sports platforms in the world.
On the NBC side, Joe Gesue, SVP of Olympic & Paralympic Programming, added: “Swimming has delivered so many of the most memorable Olympic moments—including last summer in Paris, thanks to all-time greats like Katie Ledecky.” Gesue noted that NBC is proud to follow the journeys of these athletes and share their incredible stories on the road to LA28.
The Legacy of Excellence
USA Swimming continues to dominate on the world stage. At the 2024 Paris Olympics, Team USA Swimming won 28 medals, including eight golds, leading the medal count for the ninth consecutive Olympic Games. Among the highlights was Katie Ledecky, who added four medals to her collection, making her the most decorated U.S. female Olympian with 14 Olympic medals.
The continued partnership with NBC Sports ensures that the stories of legends like Ledecky—and those of emerging stars—will not go unnoticed. With world-class production, storytelling, and distribution, NBC Sports will amplify the drama, emotion, and triumph of competitive swimming.
NBCUniversal’s Olympic rights extend through 2036, covering major upcoming Games in Milan Cortina (2026), Los Angeles (2028), the French Alps (2030), Brisbane (2032), Salt Lake City (2034), and beyond. This long-term investment reflects a commitment to keeping Olympic sports front and center in American media.
NBC Sports is renowned for bringing iconic moments to life, with decades of experience producing some of the most-watched events in sports history. From Sunday Night Football to the Super Bowl, the network knows how to make big events even bigger.
Meanwhile, USA Swimming represents over 380,000 athletes, coaches, and volunteers, nurturing talent from grassroots to the Olympic podium. As the National Governing Body for swimming in the U.S., it is responsible for selecting and training the national team and fostering the growth of the sport.
