Florida State Guard Tries to Effectively Deploy Information and Autonomous Technologies in Rapid Response Fleet

Modernizing Emergency Aviation Capabilities
The Florida State Guard is strengthening its aviation unit by equipping its rapid response aircraft with advanced artificial intelligence-powered sensors and software. The state aims to improve disaster response operations and search and rescue missions and public safety operations through this initiative.
The upgrade introduces autonomous tools which Overwatch Imaging developed to improve aerial mission operations. The initiative reflects a broader effort to modernize emergency response systems and improve the speed and accuracy of decision-making.
Key Technologies Deployed
The Guard is adding TK-7 Smart Sensors together with Automated Sensor Operator (ASO) software to its aircraft systems. The technologies enable aircraft to conduct extensive area searches while their crews need to operate the aircraft.
The TK-7 sensors deliver high-resolution, multispectral imagery. The system can identify fires while it detects vehicles or vessels and creates mapping data. At the same time, the ASO software upgrades existing camera systems to perform automated tasks such as surveillance, maritime monitoring, and multi-point observation.
The tools work together to decrease human operator workload while they boost mission effectiveness.
