The data supports that state-backed groups are utilizing these tools according to reports. Russian intelligence agencies have reportedly deployed DarkSword to target iPhones in Ukraine. Chinese cyber actors use the Coruna exploit to steal cryptocurrency according to its connection to their activities.

The attacks primarily target iPhones which operate on outdated versions of Apple's operating system that include iOS 18.4 to 18.6.2.
