Chinese Regulators Demand Stronger Food Safety Measures

Chinese authorities just told Walmart-owned Sam’s Club to act right away, after a bunch of food safety troubles were found in how it runs things in China. The country’s main market regulator , the State Administration for Market Regulation or SAMR, summoned the Walmart China leadership and told the firm to get rid of food safety hazards across its entire supply line.

The watchdog stressed that consumer protection matters a lot , and that every item sold via Sam’s Club should follow China’s food safety rules. Officials also said the company needs to tighten its supervision, upgrade its quality control routines, and stop the same kind of issue from popping up again later on.

Sam’s Club Responds to Regulatory Pressure
