Franklin's New City Hall Is Bringing More Than Government—Here's What's Coming

Hamilton Young Takes Key Role in Downtown Franklin Project
It has been announced that the City of Franklin has chosen Hamilton Young to be the manager of retail leasing and property management for the commercial portion of the City Hall development project. This is yet another significant step towards the realization of the goals set by the city to develop its downtown civic campus into an active business center that offers public services and additional business prospects.
Hamilton Young is a Franklin-based commercial real estate development company that specializes in leasing and property management. The company has been assigned to operate retail spaces on Third Avenue South as a part of the mixed-use project.
Retail Spaces Designed to Strengthen Downtown
The redevelopment plan does not only include erecting a brand new government building, as city officials have developed the campus in such a way that it is meant to foster business development and provide an enhanced downtown experience thanks to strategic placement of commercial spaces.
It is hoped that the retail space will enliven the ground floor through the introduction of various restaurants, stores and other service-based businesses. Hamilton Young will be responsible for the leasing process as well as for managing the retail space once it becomes operational.
A Major Investment in Franklin's Future
The City Hall redevelopment is one of the biggest investments that Franklin has ever made. The project consists of a new three-story City Hall that can house about 250 workers of the city while offering extra meeting areas for community groups and the public.
Among other things, the development project also consists of a one-acre public park, an underground parking garage with about 200 parking spaces, additional public bathrooms, wider sidewalks, improved utility infrastructure, better landscaping, pedestrian-oriented streetscape, and larger public square for festivities and community events.
Local Expertise Supports Redevelopment Vision
Hamilton Young offers plenty of expertise in real estate in downtown Franklin. Right now, the company manages many tens of thousands of square feet of commercial space in downtown Franklin. They have participated in a number of successful mixed use projects, and their understanding of the local market is supposed to assist in recruiting businesses which will fit into Franklin’s vision of the right balance between retail, restaurants, and community services.
Combining government services with the right selection of retailers, the project hopes to achieve the goal of keeping the area alive around the clock.
Construction Continues Toward Completion
The development of the new City Hall site is underway, and it is anticipated that this redevelopment will be concluded by 2027. On completion, the development will have created additional civic infrastructure along with the creation of commercial potential that benefits local business and improves the downtown experience for citizens and tourists. The involvement of Hamilton Young in the retail aspects of this development will prove to be vital to its success.
