Fueling the Future: EG America Expands in New England with High-Tech, Highway-Ready Stores

Fueling the Future: EG America Expands in New England with High-Tech, Highway-Ready Stores

EG America is charging full speed ahead in its mission to become a convenience retail powerhouse across the northeastern United States. In a strategic move aimed at expanding its footprint and reinforcing the Cumberland Farms brand, EG America has signed an agreement with Neon Marketplace to lease nine state-of-the-art retail sites across Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

The company, a subsidiary of the UK-based EG Group, announced the expansion through a press release shared with the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS). This new leasing deal is more than just a real estate transaction—it’s a calculated stride toward future-proofing the brand with customer-focused, innovation-driven retail locations.

What’s New at These Sites?

All nine sites, constructed between 2020 and 2023, are fresh, modern, and designed with today’s mobile customer in mind. Each location boasts a spacious layout, sleek architecture, and strategic placement near major highways and bustling commercial zones. These sites also feature electric vehicle (EV) charging stations and drive-thru services, making them an ideal pitstop for both traditional and electric vehicle drivers.

By adding these highly visible and easily accessible locations to its network, EG America enhances its presence in two key states while aligning with the shifting consumer demand for faster, cleaner, and more convenient fueling and retail options.

Where Are the New Stores Located?

As part of the agreement with Neon Marketplace, EG America will lease six locations in Rhode Island—specifically in Portsmouth, Middletown, Warwick, North Providence, East Greenwich, and Providence. The remaining three are in Massachusetts, located in Seekonk, Freetown, and Quincy. These areas are not only dense with traffic but also popular with commuters, ensuring steady footfall for each store.

In the coming weeks, all nine stores will be rebranded under the Cumberland Farms name, one of the most recognizable convenience store chains in the region. The transition will also connect these new stores to EG America’s broader operational infrastructure, including its distribution and culinary centers based in Westborough, Massachusetts.

More Than Just Expansion—It’s a Vision

“Expanding EG America’s network of stores and reinforcing the Cumberland Farms brand aligns with our long-term business objectives and supports our commitment to strategic growth, enhanced guest service, and market leadership across the region,” said Russ Colaco, CEO of EG Group.

He emphasized that EG America looks forward to welcoming the current store teams into its operations, ensuring a seamless transition while maintaining a high level of customer service.

A Growing Focus on EV Infrastructure

This announcement follows closely on the heels of another notable milestone: EG America recently opened an EV charging station at a Cumberland Farms store in Orange Beach, Alabama. That project was partially funded by the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA), which covered up to 80% of the construction costs through a grant aimed at expanding EV infrastructure.

This move demonstrates EG America’s commitment not just to geographical growth, but also to environmentally conscious and future-ready service offerings.

The Road Ahead

EG America’s latest lease deal sends a clear message: the company is deeply invested in the future of retail convenience and regional dominance. By pairing modern, strategically located stores with EV readiness and seamless rebranding to Cumberland Farms, the company is setting the stage for long-term success in an ever-evolving retail landscape.

With eyes on innovation, sustainability, and customer-centric experiences, EG America isn't just adding more stores—it’s building the future of convenience, one highway exit at a time.
