DAZN Replaces Gotham Sports App in Blockbuster Deal to Stream Yankees, Knicks, and More

DAZN to Replace Gotham Sports App for New York Sports Fans
Sports streaming network DAZN has entered into an important tie-up with YES Network and MSG Networks as its official streaming home from the 2026-27 NBA and NHL seasons. The agreement spells the end of the Gotham Sports App, which was being used as a joint streaming platform by both regional sports channels.
This has been done in order to ensure that fans get a better viewing experience and DAZN gets a bigger share in the American sports streaming market. The process of switching to the new service will be completed by the time of the upcoming NBA and NHL seasons.
Fans Will Continue Watching Their Favorite Teams Without Interruption
This deal includes some of the largest professional sports franchises in New York. The viewers will get to watch live games of the New York Yankees, New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets, New York Rangers, New York Islanders, New Jersey Devils, and Buffalo Sabres. Apart from live games, the subscribers will also get access to 24/7 streams of YES Network, MSG Network, and MSG Sportsnet, including On-demand programming.
Existing customers of Gotham Sports App will keep enjoying uninterrupted services as they get their accounts migrated to DAZN. Subscribers who have YES Network or MSG Networks in their existing pay-TV subscriptions will also keep having access to these channels via DAZN without paying any extra charges. Most importantly, viewers do not need to subscribe to a complete DAZN package to access YES or MSG channels, even if they want to.
Strategic Expansion for DAZN
Executives from all three firms stated that the tie-up will provide an excellent digital experience to the sports fans. YES Network President and CEO, Jon Litner, stated that DAZN's technology platform and streaming abilities made it the ideal long-term partner. The same was emphasized by MSG Networks' executives who added that DAZN's worldwide footprint and advanced streaming abilities are among the many reasons why the collaboration has taken place.
DAZN's partnership comes as yet another move that DAZN makes in trying to expand its business in the United States. DAZN had already established itself in the country by means of combat sports and international soccer while now trying to increase their presence in regional sports rights. It is worth noting that there have been claims about DAZN negotiating more streaming deals with NBA teams.
End of the Gotham Sports Era
The Gotham Sports App was introduced in 2024 as a collaboration project between YES Network and MSG Networks. Although the app integrated content from both regional sports networks, the app was not spared from user criticism regarding technical challenges that affected its performance. It is believed that the change to DAZN will ensure improved performance in streaming while retaining all existing subscription and pricing plans upon launch. Fans of the Yankees will remain on the existing platform until the end of the 2026 MLB season.
