Oasis Reunion Tour to Be Immortalized in New Film by ‘Peaky Blinders’ Creator
Entertainment & Media

A Legendary Return with a Cinematic Twist
The legendary British rock band Oasis is making a grand comeback—not only on stage but also on the big screen. On Thursday, the band announced that a film documenting their reunion tour is in the works. The project will be created and produced by Steven Knight, the mastermind behind Peaky Blinders and Locke, while Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace, the directors behind Meet Me in the Bathroom, will take the helm.
A Mystery Surrounds the Film’s Format
Details about the film remain under wraps, leaving fans speculating whether it will be a documentary, a concert film, or a creative hybrid of both. Given that Southern and Lovelace previously directed Shut Up and Play the Hits, a documentary-concert hybrid about LCD Soundsystem’s farewell show, there’s a strong possibility the Oasis film will follow a similar format.
The project is being backed by Magna Studios, with Sam Bridger and Guy Heeley as producers, alongside executive producers Marisa Clifford and Kate Shepherd. Sony Music Vision will handle distribution, with Krista Wegener leading global sales. However, the production team has clarified that no release date has been set, and further details won’t be revealed in the immediate future.
Oasis: A Band That Defined an Era
Oasis, fronted by the famously feuding Gallagher brothers, Liam and Noel, became one of the most influential rock bands of the 1990s. Their debut album, Definitely Maybe (1994), and the iconic follow-up, (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? (1995), catapulted them to global fame, with anthems like Wonderwall, Don’t Look Back in Anger, and Champagne Supernova becoming cultural landmarks. However, internal tensions led to their breakup in 2009, leaving millions of fans hoping for a reunion.
Now, after more than a decade apart, Oasis is reuniting for a tour that promises to reignite their legacy. Kicking off on July 4 in Cardiff, the tour will run through November, marking one of the most highly anticipated musical comebacks in years.
Steven Knight’s Expanding Cinematic Universe
The film’s involvement with Steven Knight adds another layer of intrigue. Knight is renowned for his ability to craft gripping narratives, as seen in his work on Peaky Blinders, Eastern Promises, and Dirty Pretty Things. More recently, he penned the Maria Callas biopic Maria, starring Angelina Jolie. His collaboration with Oasis signals that the film could be more than just a concert documentary—perhaps a deeper dive into the band’s journey, their break-up, and their long-awaited reunion.
A Reunion for the Ages
For die-hard Oasis fans, this tour and accompanying film mark a once-in-a-lifetime moment. Whether it’s a nostalgic tribute or a raw and unfiltered look at the band’s return, the upcoming project is bound to capture the essence of what made Oasis a rock ‘n’ roll phenomenon. As anticipation builds, one thing is certain—this will be an event no music lover wants to miss.
