About Scholastic Education Division
Scholastic Education is an essential component of the company's mission to help the schools and teachers to support whole students in their learning journey. The division is primarily dedicated to literacy solutions, hence, it is the adoption of evidence-based learning tools that have gained the trust of educators and are loved by students. Apart from that, the provision of instructional resources that aid and ensure the enhancement of reading and learning outcomes is one such solution.
Scholastic has announced that its Education division is ready to produce the long-lasting value through firm connections with the educational, district and community organizations across the globe as the market for supplemental instruction is slowly returning to the state of stability after the recent ups and downs.
Mathews’ Role and Responsibilities
Since June 2025, Jeffrey Mathews has been taking care of the Education department on a temporary basis. During this period, he put his efforts in the direction of the department's strategy, market penetration, and better service through improving the administration. The company credited his endeavors for presenting a clearer picture of the business and its channels for "best impact" offerings and thus, overall strengthening of the business in the education sectors that are deemed important.
In the enlarged position, Mathews will still be the head of these priorities next to his responsibilities as Chief Growth Officer. Others are the long-term growth strategy, corporate development, and investor relations functions for the entire company.
Mathews has over 30 years of experience in the areas of strategy, mergers and acquisitions, and investor relations. He worked for Scholastic from 2008 to 2012 and returned in 2022 as Executive Vice President of Corporate Development and Investor Relations.

The organization not only publishes but also distributes children's literature and educational materials through various means such as school book fairs, book clubs, classroom libraries, public libraries, retail outlets, and online platforms in over 135 countries.
Scholastic's decision to appoint Mathews as the head of Scholastic Education is a strategic move to not only enhance its position as a literacy leader but also to increase its influence in schools, homes, and communities all over the world.
