Opening Doors to Opportunity: Fidelity’s $250 Million Push for Education Equity

Fidelity Investments has always believed that financial empowerment begins with education. Taking this belief further, the company launched Invest in My Education (ME)℠, a $250 million social impact initiative designed to give students from under-resourced communities a real shot at higher education and future success. The initiative does more than just provide scholarships, it builds a support system that helps students stay in school, complete their degrees, and find meaningful employment afterward.
Supporting the “Mighty Middle” Students
While many scholarship programs focus only on top-performing students, Fidelity’s initiative looks beyond grades. Invest in My Education focuses on what it calls the “mighty middle,” students with GPAs between 2.5 and 3.59 who show potential but often lack access to financial and emotional support.
The program offers much more than tuition aid. Each participant receives guidance from college success coaches, access to mental health and wellness resources, mentorship from Fidelity associates, and financial literacy training. This holistic approach ensures that students are not just admitted to college but are equipped to thrive there.
Nearly 1,200 Students Begin Their College Journey
This fall, almost 1,200 students supported by the program are stepping into college classrooms across the country. What makes this milestone even more inspiring is that 63% of them are the first in their families to attend college. Among all active participants, 94% say the program has boosted or maintained their motivation to earn a degree.
Through mentorship from more than 480 Fidelity volunteers and continuous engagement, the program is creating pathways for long-term success. By helping students complete their education and prepare for careers, Invest in My Education aims to foster generational wealth and economic mobility, strengthening both individuals and their communities.
Expanding Reach to 12 States
The program’s footprint continues to grow. Invest in My Education now operates in 12 states, including newcomers New Hampshire and Utah, alongside Colorado, Florida, Kentucky, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Massachusetts, Ohio, Rhode Island, Texas, and Washington D.C.
Beyond supporting students, the initiative extends its impact through Ecosystem-Building Grants that enhance pathways for thousands more under-resourced students, and Retention and Completion Grants that help colleges keep at-risk students enrolled. Fidelity’s broader goal remains clear, to bridge educational disparities and create upward mobility across communities.
Applications Now Open for 2026
The application window for the 2026 academic year is officially open. Students in eligible states planning to attend accredited, not-for-profit four-year colleges can apply through the initiative’s philanthropic partner, UNCF, until January 29, 2026.
By combining access, affordability, and ongoing mentorship, Fidelity Investments continues to turn its long-standing commitment to financial well-being into meaningful, life-changing action, one student at a time.
