A Journey of Passion and Purpose
In 2007, Amy had the vision to establish a boutique Public Relations and Communications firm by utilizing the skills she had acquired as a television and film publicist. Despite initial hesitation, encouragement from friends and mentors led to the launch of the company with NBC's THE SINGING BEE as the first client, hosted by NYSNC's Joey Fatone. This successful collaboration opened doors to numerous opportunities and referrals. Interestingly, the founder's journey to public relations began with aspirations of being an on-camera news reporter, followed by a desire to become a talent agent. Eventually, working for a rising producer named Lynda Obst led to the discovery of publicity.
Following the success of SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE, she was preparing for the release of her next movie, ONE FINE DAY, which starred George Clooney and Michelle Pfeiffer. In addition to this, she had written a book about the entertainment industry named HELLO HE LIED, which was scheduled to be published. Despite her hectic schedule, she was intrigued by the ABC News camera crew's sit-down interview at her office and the subsequent Glamour interview. Her attendance at the film premiere and the thrill of the red carpet only reinforced her passion for the industry, leaving no room for doubt or hesitation.
While employed at a PR firm, she gained knowledge about talent publicity from notable individuals such as Ben Affleck, Calista Flockhart, Jared Leto, Adrian Brody, Debi Mazar, and various others. This experience provided her with a solid foundation in PR and helped her identify the entertainment sector as her niche. Eventually, she found herself working in TV publicity, and in 1999, she successfully relaunched EXTRA. Later on, she joined Paramount and collaborated with the producers of Entertainment Tonight to launch a movie-review show called HOT TICKET, as well as a spin-off of the popular show BLIND DATE, RENDEZ VIEW. After dedicating five years to promoting WHEEL OF FORTUNE, she began traveling to different locations for filming and realized that it was time to branch out on her own. She set up her own business and began taking on new ventures.
Secret Behind Unmatched Services
The Prenner Group provides highly personalized attention to their clients, who are mainly referred to them. They are particular about the clients they work with to ensure success. They avoid taking on multiple experts in the same field to guarantee their success. For instance, they only work on one movie or streaming project at a time to ensure their work is of high quality. The company invests considerable time in getting to know its clients and their objectives, enabling them to promote awareness effectively.
Mastering the Art of Trendspotting
Amy emphasized the importance of being informed about the ever-evolving landscape of media and pop culture. In the past, posting a story online was considered a great achievement. However, with the rise of digital outlets, social media has become a crucial source of content curation. Therefore, teaching clients how to work with social media has become essential for their success. Amy and her team are always exploring new ways to educate themselves and their clients about what lies ahead. One of the current focuses is ChatGPT, an AI-driven natural language processing tool. This tool allows users to engage in human-like conversations and perform tasks such as composing emails, essays, and code. The language model is capable of answering questions and assisting with various tasks.
Strategies for Unstoppable Success
As a PR professional, it can be challenging when campaigns are not fully developed and colleagues do not comprehend that there is no story yet. However, it's essential to embrace failures, as they provide valuable lessons on how to approach similar situations in the future. It's beneficial to keep a list of alternative solutions to telling a story, such as sending out tweets or sharing statements from prominent individuals who have control over the message.
Empowering Women to Rise Above
Success can be achieved by identifying your passion and finding ways to turn it into a source of income. When speaking to college students, Amy advises them to visit a newsstand or the magazine section of a Barnes & Noble to determine their interests. It could be home and garden, cooking, arts and crafts, or something entirely else. This simple exercise can help you determine what you enjoy and guide you toward success. Amy did this early on in her career and found her love for entertainment, which she continues to pursue after 25 years.
Gender Balance and Diversity
Gender balance and diversity in the workforce are important for several reasons, including:
Better decision: Having a team with a diverse range of perspectives, experiences, and ideas can bring about more innovative and effective solutions to business problems. Research has revealed that companies with diverse teams tend to make better decisions compared to those with homogenous teams. Therefore, diversity of thought can significantly contribute to the success of a business.
Improved company culture: Having a diverse staff can contribute to establishing an inclusive and accepting organizational environment. When team members observe that their employer appreciates and endorses diversity, they tend to feel respected and integrated, resulting in a boost in their happiness, job contentment, and efficiency.
Increased creativity: A varied team can offer a broader spectrum of viewpoints and backgrounds to the creative endeavor. As a result, this can generate a greater number of imaginative and inventive concepts, ultimately aiding a business in remaining competitive and pertinent in an ever-evolving market.
A better understanding of customer needs: A heterogeneous staff can enhance a company's ability to comprehend and cater to a varied pool of clients. With employees stemming from diverse backgrounds and possessing distinct experiences, they become more adept at grasping the requirements and inclinations of a wide range of customers.
Better recruitment and retention: Valuing diversity within a company can result in the attraction and retention of a broader pool of skilled employees. In turn, this can aid in the establishment of a more resilient and enduring workforce for the organization in the long run.
In top-level management groups, attaining gender balance and enhancing diversity is highly significant. The actions of senior executives establish a precedent for the whole organization, and an absence of diversity in leadership can communicate to staff that diversity is not esteemed or crucial. By advocating for gender balance and diversity in senior management, enterprises can foster a more comprehensive and hospitable atmosphere for all employees, and enjoy the advantages that arise from a varied workforce.
Unveiling the Future
The Prenner Group had a successful year in 2022 and is hoping to replicate or exceed that success in 2023. The company is especially excited about its involvement in upcoming feature films and the development of lifestyle experts. The team is confident that their clients in the second and third quarters will bring attention to previously unknown subjects and be game-changers. Additionally, they predict that influencers will become the new trendsetters and personalities of the entertainment industry. Producers and editors are now considering an individual's social media following before scheduling interviews, indicating that influencers are likely to become the next big stars. The Prenner Group has already noticed this trend and is ready to capitalize on it.
