20 Best Companies to Watch of 2021
PointGrab has been recognized as one of the 20 Best Companies to Watch of 2021.
Founded by pioneers within the computer vision space, PointGrab applies its superior deep-learning technology to assist Enterprises in managing the human flow in their buildings and integrate automation systems through highly intelligent image-based sensors that provide real time and historical data on occupancy usage, while protecting their privacy.
PointGrab’s team of professionals and experts span multiple technological fields, including hardware and software engineering, Computer Vision, data science, product, operations and industrial design.
We’ve had the pleasure to sit down with PointGrab CEO, Doron Shachar, to learn more about how his revolutionary company is changing the way workspaces are utilized, perceived, and managed.
What is the most important key to your success? Share the experience.
People. Our people. Smart, curious, loyal, challenging, honest people that can push our limits and break boundaries.
Innovation - We are never satisfied with our solution, and always aim to step up and come with better, smarter, more innovative solutions that will provide our customers with uncontested value.
Customers - Our customers push us to be the best versions of ourselves. We’re constantly challenged to provide them with the best products and at the best value.
What kind of mixed responses have you received from your consumers over the years? How have they motivated you to shape your offerings/grow the company?
Our customers are the main reason for our success. They are using our technology, continue to expand the boundaries of our solutions, and are always providing valuable insights and new requirements. Our customers seek to have a perfect solution - one that’s integrated, comprehensive, accurate and bulletproof, and they continue to ensure we keep improving.
“Earning trust and respect of consumers all around the world is through consistent focus on delivering high quality in all of our actions,” how do you interpret this statement?
Frankly, I don’t think this statement needs my interpretation. I totally agree.
Fostering a culture of feedback is crucial for the success of every organization. How is this true with your company?
We couldn’t agree more. We urge my employees to be very open with any criticism that they have, and we promise to always listen, observe and be open-minded before I reply. The same applies to insights we get from our customers. They may not always be right, but they are always our customers.
About the adaptability, how do you stay relevant to the consumer interests and needs in this highly volatile market?
It’s a mixture of doubting, arguing, questioning, and never being satisfied with our solution, offering, or product. It is also about being modest enough to admit we have a lot to learn: not only from experts and customers, also from our employees.
Customer service varies, but companies can still be successful. How do you maintain the quality of your services?
It is once again choosing the right people, defining the most aggressive targets and KPI’s, and providing the team with the tools to meet these objectives so we can set even more aggressive objectives. Is 99.99% uptime good enough? How about 99.999%? It means getting 10 times better, doesn’t it?
What do you feel are the reasons behind your company’s reputation?
I would like to believe that our channel partners, customers and even our competition respect what we have achieved. The high level of product, support and agility means a lot to most. And one more thing: we are open and transparent with our vendors, customers and employees. This is the way we conduct business.
How do you and your company contribute to the global IT platform and society at large?
One of the things we are very proud of, is that our solution serves 360 degrees. This means that it provides real value to enterprises as it clearly saves money, increases productivity and enables top class management to make better data based business decisions.
Yet we also provide great value to employees - we provide them safe and healthy workspaces, we offer them options when it comes to their desk or meeting room selections, and we even permit smart building features for their quality of life: from smart cleaning to optimization of dining areas, and so much more.
People like when companies are involved in social welfare/CSR activities, what do you say about this?
I tend to agree. Doing good is a great engine for many, including myself. I could never work for a company that promotes the usage of toxic materials or that violates rights of minorities. I want to believe that we are helping the world by enabling progress, better quality of life, and even a work-life balance. We at PointGrab try our best to be involved in the community, help local suppliers and, in general, contribute to those who need it.
Do you have any new products or services ready to be/getting ready to be launched?
We are making way for a much more holistic solution for workspaces, and are trying to get as close as possible to the “holy grail” in this ecosystem, which is the “All-in-1” sensor. Our IoT platform will be able to monitor real-time data not only about the number and location of people in any given space but also about how companies can deal with use cases related to energy saving, sustainability, safety, security, and much more. As part of this journey, we will release more and more features and products, including:
a. Environmental sensing capabilities to monitor air quality, temperature and humidity levels.
b. Air quality sensing data
c. A smart analytics dashboard as part of our end-to-end solution
D. Object recognition tools
About your plans, what will be your future goal?
The company is in a fast growing lane and will grow in every business element within the next few years. Whereas some of our plans must remain discreet at this stage, we can that we plan on offering a new All-in-One sensor as part of a smart office solution, and we plan to enhance our value proposition to our customers both within Commercial Real Estate and in other verticals.
